Shane's Place

Shane’s Place Mission is to enhance the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities through respectful, compassionate and stable care focusing on their individual needs and life goals. Shane’s Place Promise is to provide nurturing care by dedicated and experienced associates committed to person-centered practices and have a desire to assist individuals in achieving their goals and living to their highest possible potential. Shane’s Place associates have extensive experience supporting people who have a history of significant and/or challenging behavior. Associates of Shane’s Place are certified to administer medications, advocate in support of personal interests and work closely with the person’s support team, the County Board and others important in their life to formulate the best possible supports and outcomes. We are committed to providing comprehensive care that enriches the lives of people with developmental disabilities.

Individual’s receiving services are Shane’s Place highest priority and is evidenced in the excellence of our direct care associates. All associates employed by Shane’s Place are mandated to meet Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities training requirements as well as agency and individual specific training. Shane’s Place associates are obligated to undergo a background check as well as drug testing. Associates sign a professional conduct agreement upon hire. Violation of that agreement results in re-training, disciplinary action, and possible removal from employment with Shane’s Place.

Our Opportunities

Shane’s Place Services are focused around the interests of those citizens with developmental disabilities who are not able to live without assistance. Shane’s Place provides an environment whereby individuals with developmental disabilities thrive within a family atmosphere and receive respectful, compassionate, and stable care, advocacy, skills training, and enjoyable activities to enhance their lives utilizing the following specific services:
Shared Living for individuals with developmental disabilities who require supportive care and who are unable to live alone. Personal care and supportive services (e.g., homemaker and chore services) provided in a private home by an unrelated, principal care provider who lives in the home and who’s primary, legal residence is that home.
Homemaker Personal Care for individuals with developmental disabilities who live in their own home but require supportive services. Homemaker/personal care is provided to help a person with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing and eating.
Transportation Services for purposes of medical, educational, recreational, and vocational for individuals with developmental disabilities who do not have the ability to transport themselves. Transportation enables people to access services and travel to community services, activities, and other resources. Also transportation necessary to access Adult Day Support, Vocational Habilitation, Supported Employment-Enclave and Supported Employment-Community waiver services, as specified by the Individual Service Plan.
Respite to individuals unable to care for themselves that are furnished on a short-term (up to 90-days) basis due to the absence of or need for relief of those persons who normally provide care for the individuals. Shane’s Places offers respite in the individual’s home or in one of our agency operated residences with agency associates.
Other Services as required by individual service plans and not covered above will be considered and made available if possible.
